Emerald Scenery Design got it's start in early 2011 as a passion project by Chris Britton. In the years preceding 2011, Chris had been flying on Microsoft Flight Simulator X since shortly after it had came out. With a developing passion for nature and geography, it only felt appropriate that the question should be asked, "What can I do to to improve my and (eventually) other's simming experience. Scenery addon design soon became the answer.
In 2011, Chris began working on small and basic personal projects (Like so many other developers did in their early years of addon development). After learning the ropes of object placement and photoreal, Chris began making addons by request on FSEconomy, where he would later meet Jordan Shamblen, another FSE user dabbling in scenery design. Jordan and Chris went on to work on a handful of addons, with only a few later being released. Jordan eventually moved on from scenery design and it was decided to stop all development at ESD. However, this decision was short-lived and Chris eventually reopened the doors to new opportunities.
Chris is now the sol developer at Emerald Scenery Design, focused on maintaining and designing detailed scenery addons for General Aviation simmers on FSX, P3D, and MSFS.
