A Sierra Nevada Classic Returns

Tucked away in Northern California’s Sierra Nevada foothills lies Limberlost Ranch (CA21) – a private hilltop airstrip with 1500ft (457m) of usable grass runway. With its one-way in one-way out approach to an upsloping runway, landing at Limberlost Ranch can be a fun challenge to master, especially when paired with a vintage taildragger or other short field capable aircraft.

This scenery was inspired by ORBX’s Blue Canyon-Nyack Airport for FSX/P3D, which includes a lite rendition of CA21. Limberlost Ranch has now been recreated for Microsoft Flight Simulator with a high degree of accuracy and detail based on years of research and development.

Features

  • One detailed ridge-top ranch and airstrip with custom models and vegetation, using PBR materials.
  • A Hangar with a parking spawn, environment-triggered lights, and an aircraft/avatar triggered hangar door.
  • A custom high resolution asphalt apron near the Hangar.
  • A Ranch House with a navigable interior model (designed for 2024’s avatar mode).
  • A pool with depth, animated water caustics, and an inflatable animated with wind direction.
  • Custom animated wildlife: A Fox and Wild Boar roam the coverage area. Also, Horse.
  • Environment-triggered sounds using Wwise: Fox, Horse, Hangar lights, Pool, and Fountain.
  • Environment-triggered visual effects: Fountain and Chimney Smoke.
  • Hand-crafted terraforming with custom 15cm/px aerial imagery.

We try our best to keep a running list of known issues involving limitations or conflicts when discovered. If possible, fixing these issues are our top priority. However, please note that the majority of these may be out of our control.

  • Pool elevation issues upon loading
    Sometimes the sim may not calculate elevations correctly at startup. This can sometimes affect the pool water and caustics, causing them to sink. I have not found a way to mitigate this bug.
  • Do I get a copy of the scenery for 2020 and 2024?
    Yes, on the platform you purchased it on. If you have not been credited a copy on Marketplace, submit a support request at this link.
