What Is Emerald Object Library?

Emerald Object Library is a collection of static and dynamic models, materials, Wwise sounds, and VFX produced by Emerald Scenery Design. It allows us to push fixes for common assets across multiple products at once, as well as keep the required space of our addons to a minimum by eliminating duplicates in each project. This library is a dependency of all Emerald Scenery Design addons and must be installed for them to function correctly!

This library may also be used by other developers in their freeware addons. If you are interested in using it as a dependency in your project, please see the Developer Terms of Use tab! Libraries can be found in the scenery editor under Scenery, SimObjects, WorldScripts, and Materials by searching:

Developer Terms of Use

As of June 10, 2021, Emerald Scenery Design authorizes groups and individuals to reference this library package in their freeware creations. The following terms of use apply:

  1. The end-user must obtain this package from an official download source (At flightsim.to, ORBX, or here at emeraldscenerydesign.com). Please refrain from packaging it with your add-on or de-compiling it to include partial files for any reason, as it can result in outdated, broken, or conflicting add-ons.
  2. Please credit Emerald Scenery Design in your description/documentation by either providing a direct link to the libraries on our site or the URL of our homepage (https://emeraldscenerydesign.com/).

Please understand that the Emerald Object Library is primarily built for and intended to be used with Emerald Scenery Design products. I will add models as I create or acquire them for my projects.

Additionally, please be aware that objects may be updated or, in the worst-case scenario, removed altogether. I try to make these changes as seamless as possible by usually replacing objects rather than removing them. However, no notification of these changes will be published, except in the release change log. So, please give it a quick read after each update!

  • A complete overhaul for Xbox Performance: This update rolls back most LOD optimizations and reduces overall texture memory for some objects. During Xbox testing for Fort Crosby, it was discovered that most optimizations were hurting more than helping. Users with a higher end PC or the Xbox Series X should not notice any major changes. This should reduce the load on the CPU, but will come with an increase to GPU usage (though, a decrease in memory usage). A balance which will likely need to be further tuned over time.
  • Added NRM textures for Grass01, 02, 03, 04, & GrassPlants01 ground materials.
  • Fixed Cabin5 & Roller UV issues.
  • Fixed Log01 incorrect Normal texture type.
  • Fixed mirrors on Roller & Loader.

Which version of Emerald Object Library is best for me?

Emerald Object Library is available to download from a few difference sources. Here on the Emerald Scenery Design website, over at flightsim.to, through ORBX, and on the MSFS Marketplace.

Over the last several years, I have been asked what version is best. And it’s important to note first and foremost that no matter where you download EOL from, it’s the exact same product. Though, updates might not all arrive at the same time.

If you want the quickest updates, it’s always best to download EOL here on the website or over at flightsim.to. I publish both at the same time.

ORBX comes in close second and is usually updated same day or by the next day. You might prefer the ORBX version if you want an update manager outside of Marketplace.

Marketplace is the slowest to publish new updates, but over the last year QA has got a lot quicker. Updates could take as long as a week, but recent updates have been tested, signed off, and released within 2-3 days of submission. This option is best if you don’t care as much about getting the latest update right away. MSFS’ package manager will also tell you when an update is available, so you don’t have to worry about keeping track of it yourself.

If you are on Xbox, Emerald Object Library can only be obtained through the MSFS Marketplace!
